Pouring a warm bath and adding in 1-2 cups of Epsom salts is a wonderful and simple way to relax your mind and body. Bathing improves your circulation, supports hormone balance, and temperature regulation. It can improve your mood and has been shown to increase levels of serotonin, the chemical produced by the brain associated with happiness and feelings of well-being. It is recommended that you soak for at least 15 minutes to receive the muscle-relaxing benefits of the Magnesium-rich salts.
To amp up your bath ritual, here are a few ideas: add in 3 drops of Lavender Oil* with 1 tablespoon of carrier oil or castile soap; play your favorite music or meditation; place a plant, flowers or fresh herbs nearby; turn off bright lights, and light a healthy fragrance-free candle. Leave your phone on silent & out of reach while you are soaking.
Like all topicals, if you are new to using Epsom salts or an essential oil, test on a small area of skin and wait for 2 hours to see if you have a reaction before using it in your bath. If you suffer from severely dry or itchy skin, try substituting salts with a package of colloidal oatmeal.
If you might be pregnant it is not recommended to take a bath that is hot enough to raise your core body temperature above 100°F.
